Business Sign Repair in Gilbert, AZ

A dark sign tells every driver on the road that you're closed — or gone. A half-lit sign might be worse. When "OPEN" reads "PEN," customers notice, and not in the way you want.

AC/DC Electric repairs the electrical side of business signage across the East Valley and Phoenix: channel letters, cabinet signs, monument signs, and the circuits, timers, and photocells that run them. Licensed, bonded, and insured, with 24/7 availability — so a sign problem spotted at night gets handled, not logged for next week.

You get an upfront flat quote before repairs begin. Call 480-695-4304.

Watch for these

Signs your sign is working against you

  • Letters are dark or partially lit
  • The whole sign is dead
  • Sections flicker or pulse at night
  • The sign ignores dusk and stays off
  • It stays on in broad daylight
  • The breaker feeding the sign trips repeatedly

What Kills Signs in Arizona

Heat. A sign cabinet in the Arizona sun cooks its own components — power supplies, transformers, and LED drivers all age fast inside a hot metal box. Add monsoon moisture finding its way into connections, and you get the classic failures: dark letters, flickering sections, and power supplies that die a few at a time. We open the sign up, test what's failed, and replace components with parts rated for the job.

Timers, Photocells, and Sign Circuits

Plenty of "broken" signs have nothing wrong with the sign itself. A failed photocell never tells the sign it's dark out. A mis-set or dead timer leaves it off during business hours and burning at 3 a.m. A tripped breaker upstream kills it entirely. We troubleshoot the whole chain from the panel to the letters — which is why a licensed electrical contractor is the right first call for a dead sign, before a sign company.

Why AC/DC Electric

Sign problems get noticed at night, and we answer at night. We can survey the sign while it's failing — the only honest way to see flicker, dead sections, and photocell faults — and quote the fix flat before we touch a thing.

We also keep the rest of your storefront bright: parking lot lighting and exterior building lights can be checked on the same visit.

FAQ

Straight answers

Why is only part of my sign lit?

Signs are built in sections, each fed by its own power supply or transformer. When one section goes dark, its supply has usually failed — a common fate in Arizona heat. Individual LED modules also fail and take a stripe of a letter with them. We test section by section, replace what's dead, and match the output so the sign lights evenly again.

My sign won't come on at dusk. What's wrong?

Start with the controls. A failed photocell can't detect nightfall, and a timer with a dead backup battery loses its schedule after every power blip. If the controls test fine, we work upstream — tripped breaker, failed contactor, or a wiring fault between the panel and the sign. It's typically a one-visit diagnosis, and often repaired on the spot.

Do you fix sign faces and lettering too?

We handle the electrical: modules, power supplies, wiring, controls, and the circuit feeding the sign. Cracked faces, faded vinyl, and structural work belong to a sign fabricator. Practical tip: have the electrical diagnosed first. A lot of signs that look like fabricator jobs just need power restored.

Can you add a circuit for a new sign?

Yes. A new sign needs a dedicated circuit, correctly sized and usually controlled by a timer or photocell, and that's licensed electrical work. We run the circuit, set up the controls, and coordinate with your sign installer so the crane visit and the hookup happen without a scheduling mess.
