How many recessed lights does my room need?
Depends on the room's size, ceiling height, and what happens there. A common starting point is spacing lights roughly half the ceiling height apart, then adjusting for counters, seating, and artwork. Kitchens need more, bedrooms need fewer. We'll sketch a layout with a count before quoting, so nothing is guesswork.
Will you have to tear up my ceiling?
Usually not. Wafer lights mount through the same holes they sit in, and we fish the wiring through the attic or ceiling cavity. Occasionally a tricky joist bay calls for a small access hole — if so, you'll know before we cut, and it's part of the flat quote, not a surprise at the end.
What color temperature should I choose?
Warmer light, around 2700K to 3000K, suits living rooms and bedrooms. Kitchens, baths, and workspaces look crisp at 3000K to 4000K. Most wafers we install have a selectable switch, so we can set each room on the spot — and change it later if you change your mind. Consistency within a room matters most.
Can recessed lights go on a dimmer?
They should. Dimming is most of the reason recessed lighting feels so good — bright for cleaning, low for evenings. The key is matching the dimmer to the combined LED load so the whole row dims smoothly without flicker or dropout. We wire the switch as part of the install, not as an afterthought.
Are recessed lights safe with attic insulation?
IC-rated fixtures are designed for direct contact with insulation, and that's what we install in insulated ceilings. Older non-IC cans buried in blown-in insulation are a genuine overheating hazard — if we spot them during your project, we'll point them out and price replacements so you can decide.
