Gilbert nights are built for the backyard. Dinner on the patio, kids in the pool, desert sky overhead. A dark yard wastes all of it — and a pitch-black front walk is a twisted ankle waiting to happen. Good outdoor lighting fixes both. It makes your home look sharp after sundown and keeps every step safe.
AC/DC Electric designs and installs outdoor and landscape lighting across Gilbert and the East Valley. We do it as licensed electricians, not landscapers with a spool of wire. That means cable buried at proper depth, sealed weatherproof connections, protected circuits, and a flat quote before we start.
Watch for these
Signs your yard is stuck in the dark
- Your front walk disappears after dark
- Extension cords are feeding your patio lights
- Fixtures are corroded, cracked, or dead
- Half the landscape lights quit and nobody knows why
- Dark corners around gates and side yards
- The house looks great by day, invisible by night
Built for Arizona sun, monsoon rain, and drip lines
Outdoor electrical takes a beating here. Summer sun cooks cheap fixtures until they crack. Monsoon storms drive water into every unsealed connection. Drip irrigation repairs and shovels find shallow wire. We install fixtures rated for desert heat, seal every splice in weatherproof boxes, and bury cable deep enough that routine yard work will not kill your system.
Every outdoor circuit we touch gets proper GFCI protection. Water and electricity share your yard, so the code — and common sense — demand it. If your current exterior outlets are not protected, we can fix that in the same visit. See our GFCI outlet installation page for the full story.
Low voltage or line voltage? We will steer you straight
Most landscape lighting runs on low voltage: safer around kids and pets, cheap to operate, easy to adjust as plants grow. Security floodlights and some patio fixtures need full line voltage and a proper circuit. Plenty of yards use both. We size the transformer, plan the runs, and lay it out so one bad connection does not black out the whole yard.

FAQ
Straight answers
Can you repair my existing landscape lighting instead of replacing it?
Usually, yes. Most dead systems come down to a failed transformer, corroded connections, or a cut cable — all fixable. We troubleshoot the system, quote the repair flat, and tell you honestly if the gear is too far gone to be worth saving. You decide from there.
Do outdoor lights need GFCI protection?
Line-voltage outdoor circuits need GFCI protection under the NEC, and the exterior outlets that feed low-voltage transformers should have it too. GFCI is the device that cuts power instantly when current leaks toward water or ground. If your yard was wired before the rules tightened up, we can bring it current.
Will landscape lighting raise my electric bill much?
Not with LED. Modern low-voltage LED fixtures sip power compared to the old halogen systems — you can light an entire yard on less energy than a couple of old-style bulbs burned. Add a photocell or timer so the lights only run after dark, and the operating cost stays small.
Can you add lighting without wrecking my landscaping?
That is the goal on every job. Low-voltage cable needs only shallow burial, so most runs go in with a flat spade and careful hands, not a trencher. Where we do have to open ground for conduit, we cut clean and put things back the way we found them.
